495HP LS-Swapped 944 Turbo Coming to BaT

The Build

Chassis & Body Transformation

This 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo underwent a complete structural and aesthetic overhaul, starting with a full sunroof-delete roof swap and hand-widened steel fenders extending the body 1″ per side. GT Racing aero components, a raised fiberglass hood with AeroCatch latches, and a Megane Racing spoiler complete the track-ready look. The exterior updates were designed to support high-speed stability, cooling, and durability while giving the car a purposeful, race-bred presence.

LS3 Powertrain Conversion

A GM LS376/480 crate motor was installed using a complete Renegade Hybrids conversion kit, bringing 495 hp and 473 lb-ft of torque with proven reliability. The intake was rotated 180° to source cooler air, and a large radiator with a Derale fan keeps temperatures stable under load. Stainless shorty headers feed a 3″ exhaust with a Dynomax muffler, while the factory 944 Turbo gearbox with LSD handles the power confidently.

Suspension & Handling Package

Built to perform at pace, the car features MCS 2-Way remote reservoir dampers paired with 600 lb front and 700 lb rear springs. Racers Edge camber plates, spherical bushings, and mounts maintain precise geometry, while Tarrett adjustable sway bars with drop links provide fine-tuning for different tracks. The result is a planted, communicative chassis capable of serious pace and adjustability for competitive driving.

Safety & Interior Race Prep

The interior was fully stripped and rebuilt around an extensive cage tying into the front shock towers, offering X-brace door bars, a harness bar, and a rigid under-dash cross bar. A lightweight GT Racing dash wrapped in carbon, Racepak display, race-focused HVAC, and Rennline floor panels keep the cockpit functional and focused. Sparco street/track seats and a MOMO MOD.07 quick-release wheel round out a setup ready for HPDE, time attack, or sanctioned competition.

Brakes, Wheels & Track Hardware

Braking is handled by Porsche 993 Big Reds up front and Turbo calipers in the rear, clamping onto new cross-drilled rotors and fed by a Tilton triple-reservoir pedal box for consistent modulation. A square setup of Enkei NT03 wheels wrapped in 275/35-18 Continental ExtremeContact Sports delivers strong grip and predictable balance. Together, the hardware supports the car’s power and chassis capability, making it ready for HPDE, time attack, and beyond.
